An up and comer trying to make a name for herself...

KYLIE never expected to be stuck on a tour bus with a pampered princess and her boyfriend’s ex.

A troubled artist struggling to hold onto his career...

TRACE thought he was finally getting to do things his way. Until the label added co-headliner Gretchen Gibson, the only person in country music with more issues than him, to his No Apologies tour.

Surrounded by tabloid rumors and people they can't trust, Kylie and Trace need each other more than ever. But the choices they make will change everything.

Because chasing your dreams and following your heart don’t always lead you to the same place…

 My Review:

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Boy what a difference one book can make! I mean all throughout Girl with Guitar I never had any doubts. I was totally rooting for Kylie and Trace through the whole thing. Even when things seemed like they'd hit an all time low I just kept thinking "they'll make it" and I really believed it. But with Girl on Tour, oh my lord! There came a point, well actually at a few places actually, where I just wanted them to cut their losses and quit with all the pain and hurt. After I reached into the book and grabbed both Kylie and Trace by the backs of their necks and bonk their heads together of course! Thankfully Caisey warned me and my fellow #GwB girls that we were not to be expecting a HEA for this one or I'd probably have been sending her multiple "what are you doing to me" or "what are you doing to them" types of emails  haha. Don't worry Caisey I still heart you mucho :)

Kylie was just the same as I remembered her to be. I simply adore her, but I wanted to throttle her a time or two during this one. I mean Trace doesn't call her a hothead for nothin! She made a lot of bad decisions and some of her actions had me questioning what on earth she could have been thinking. But when it comes down to it, she was a girl who's in love and sometimes instead of facing what she knew deep down she should do or how she should react in certain situations, it seemed like she was kind of just hoping if she ignored the big bad thing long enough it would just go away. Honestly after I had some time to decompress and really let everything I read sink in, she's just a normal girl. Hell I've done some of the stuff I was cursing at her for. She was on a slow downward spiral throughout Girl on Tour and by the end of the book my heart was breaking for her.

And Trace. Sigh. Oh Trace. Why, oh why do you do the things you do? That boy had me so stinking angry as time went on. I love him to death! He's one of my favorite male MCs. But he is so broken that I had to wonder if he'd ever get fixed. He's an addicted through and through. Thinkin he's got everything under control and he'll be okay once he makes it through this one thing. And then something else happens and he just needs to make it through that and everything will be okay. His fall was breaking my heart with the turn of every page. There was one line I read. Three little words that had me fuming, and it got me to a point where I had literally given up on Trace and Kylie's future together, didn't even want it anymore. That was the point I knew I had to walk away from my Kindle and slept it off. I'd like to say that when I picked it back up again the next day that Trace got better...but sadly he didn't fully. But, by the end I will say that though I wasn't over the moon I was satisfied and felt like for once he did something right.

It wasn't all anger and heartbreak though. There were some sweet moments and some hot and steamy moments as well. When things are good with Trace and Kylie it is such a swoon fest. It has me sighing and smiling like a big dork as I read.

We get to know a couple new characters as well. The other two girls on Kylie's tour. Mia, who is Trace's sort of ex I suppose, though she was mentioned and very briefly in Girl with Guitar, but we really get to know her in this book. I'm still not 100% a big fan of hers. She's not the most pleasant person when she's around and she started to grow on me just a tiny bit by the end of the book, but I'm still not liking her all that much. Then there was Lily. Oh man, I couldn't stand girls like her when I was her age (16) and I still can't deal with them. Spoiled-rich-my-daddy-buys-me-whatever-I-want types of girls. You know the type. I did start to feel some sympathy for her though once we got to dig deeper in her family life. Then touring with Trace we have Gretchen. Could. Not. Stand. Her. Well in the beginning at least. There was a lot more to Gretchen than her outward appearance. Think Trace as a female and you basically have Gretchen.

Okay so I was kind of excited that for a little bit we got to see Steven Blythe again. Oh who am I kidding, I was a lot excited! There was just something about that guy. He stuck out to me in the first book and so when I saw him make an appearance here I will admit I sort of might have squealed a little. Ha! And I will say that, even though I'm not a fan...yet, I really liked the vibe, the spark that I saw popping between Mia and Steven. I'm just gonna throw this out there... but I think Steven needs his own story. Even if it's only a novella. I'm just sayin... ;)

Overall was I upset? Yes. Was I angry? Um Yes! Did I love it? Of course! There's one thing you've gotta understand about me. I will get pissed and complain or cry like a baby and whine or be over the moon and fangirling like crazy sure. But all of those things mean one thing. I'm feeling. And sometimes books make me feel...passionately! It just means I'm attached and I care what happens to these characters. I may not have my "Happily Ever After" yet, but I have faith that Caisey will end Trace and Kylie's story on a happy note. And I can't wait for Girl in Love to come out so I can see it happen!

Swoon Thursday #14

Swoon Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by YABound!

Here's what you do:
From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

This weeks swoon is a bit steamy and meant for mature readers. You've been warned! :)

This week I'm swooning over:

Girl With Guitar (Kylie Ryans #1) by Caisey Quinn
Published May 22nd 2013

The sensation became so intese. It was almost painful. Before she had time to ask him what he was doing, Trace's strong hands gripped her and lifted her onto the counter. His labored breathing was the only sound she heard as he used those same hands to spread her knees apart. Kylie whimpered when he moved forward to press himself between them.

This was not the Trace Corbin she was used to. This man had pleading eyes and was trembling to the point of vibrating with want. Or maybe it was need. Kyle wasn't sure. The muscles holding her rigid relaxed under his warm hands. He trailed them up her thighs, to her hips, finally reaching up and touching her face with gentleness she hadn't expected him to be capable of. His thumb grazed her bottom lip and it sent a shock straight through her, causing her to arch into him.

This book was all kinds of wonderful. Highly recommend it!

What had you swooning this week? Leave me a link in the comments so I can stop by! :)

New Adult. MA 17+ Content. After Kylie’s dad dies in a freak accident, he leaves her with nothing other than her crazy step-mother, Darla, and the ability to play guitar. When Darla kicks Kylie out and she loses her job all in the same day, she hops a bus to Nashville determined to make her late father’s dreams come true.

Waitressing and saving her pennies to record a demo, her big break comes when she’s asked to join a tour going down the tubes with once platinum album-selling country music superstar Trace Corbin. But touring with Trace is hardly a dream come true since he’s pretty much drinking his career down the drain. If Kylie can’t pull Trace out of his rut, he’ll pull her and her dreams down with him.

This was an exceptionally fun book for me, and not just because it was such a great read. It all started when Jessica over at Lovin' Los Libros sent out a Tweet that started a domino effect of 1 click buying. There was this book she thought was going to be good, Girl With Guitar, and that was pretty much all it took. There were about 7 of us excited having just bought it. Then someone got the brilliant idea to do a read-along and it was another chain reaction and the next thing I know there  we were, diving into this book. Jessica, Danielle, Wendy, Trish, Chelsea and CeCe.  Thanks  girls for the fun and the convos during this read and I'm hoping there will be more fun like that in the future!

But now on to the book...

Music is a big part of my every day existence, so finding books surrounded by it is always a nice treat. Most of the time they're all about tattooed, bad boy rockers. Which isn't a bad thing of course but I grew up on country and so when I saw that the FMC of Girl With Guitar was an Oklahoma girl with dreams of Nashville in her heart that was all I needed. It was highly addicting and the only problem I had with this book...was putting it down.

Kylie is just a small town, country girl who's left with nothing after the tragedy of her father's death. And wanting to make him proud she takes what little belongings and money she has and jumps on a Greyhound to Nashville. Just a girl with her guitar and dreams of making it in the country music scene. An, it-only-happens-in-books-and-movies, encounter with Trace winds up having her finishing out his tour as his opening act. She's one of my favorite types of females to read. She's kind of got that wholesome sweetness to her but she doesn't take crap from anyone. She is really funny and full of snark. It makes for some great banter. I instantly liked her. She was very real.
She grinned at the audience and then leaned closer to the mic once more. "Oh, and I go right back to serving after this, so if you don't clap when I'm finished, I can't be held responsible for what might happen to your drink between the bar and your table."
Then there was Trace. He's not meant to be very likeable in the beginning. He's the platnum album selling star, full of arrogance and numerous issues including drinking. He's pretty jaded by the whole music scene and life in general. Closing himself off to the world and only showing an image of what's expected of him. Completely self-destructive! He was cold and rude and I really wasn't impressed. Until little by little, Kylie starts to crumble the wall he's built around himself. Then we start to see beyond the bad boy country star and see what's really there. And that's when little by little, he started to steal my heart.
"Kylie, if I ever again see you in a place like The Player's Club, or alone in a bedroom with a musician who wants nothing more than to fuck you, then I can't be held responsible for what I might do."
The chemistry between these two was explosive. Right from the start. Though in the beginning it wasn't exactly in a good way. His self-destructive behavior, drinking and not showing up to gigs, was threatening to crush her dreams. Kylie, not being one to sit back and allow herself to be treated that way and would get right up in his face and call him on all his stuff.
"You probably have about fifteen more minutes until some guy with deeper dimples and tighter jeans, if that's possible, comes along and steals your thunder. Because really, you're not all that damned special. But congratulations. I hope it makes you feel like a big man to leave me and Pauly high and dry while you go out and have a good time."
As time goes on an undercurrent of attraction starts to sizzle between them. Oh. My. God. I mean there's a lot of push and shove that really builds up the sexual tension between them. It takes it's time, but when it happens it's very hot and steamy. But hooking up only causes even more problems and heartache and gives them a whole new set of obstacles to tackle. It becomes a big case of will they or won't they be able to get past the lies, the past and the pressures of the world they live in.

Girl With Guitar was able to very easily pull me through a whole range of emotions. After reading the prologue alone I had a feeling I was in for an emotional ride and boy was I. There was laughter and anger and tears, from me haha. I felt so many things, though most of all I fell in love, with all of it. I can't wait to see what's to come in book 2!
