End of the Month 2016 [January]

Okay time. You can seriously slow the hell down any time now. First I was coasting along minding my own 2015 business, then I blink and it's 2016, then I blink again and it's February!

Well, at least I got some good reading done this month. I finished 10 books this past month. Not all the books I had aimed for with my January TBR but I got the majority of them in!

I had started a reread of the Harry Potter books back in December and even though I really wanted to finish them, I was too excited to get into my first choice for the Series a Month challenge. I got so absorbed in The Mortal Instruments that I really allowed myself to savor it. Which left myself no time for the last 4 books in the HP series. Ah well. Hopefully I'll fit them in one of these days :/

I also squeezed in a couple of quick contemporaries this month when all I had handy was my Kindle and really wanted to read (since my TMI books are all physical copies). So I also read:

Series enders always make me so freaking nervous but, while this one did have me constantly on the edge of my seat, it was a fantastic ending!

It's not like this was horrible, though it did have it's moments that made me want to put it down...permanently. It's just kind of here by default really because everything else I read was just so much better.

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

City of Bones was a reread, the rest were all first timers for me.

Love isn't even a strong enough word for how I'm feeling towards this world...

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

I initially read City of Bones back in 2012 I believe it was and finally did a reread of that all the way through the other 5 this month!

8 out of the 10 books I read this month have been on either my shelf or in my Kindle since at least summer of 2015. I think this reading challenge is going to be my best friend this year! So much cleaning out of the shelves!!

What I read:

Even though the bulk of my reading this month was more on the Urban Fantasy side... I did manage to sneak in a few contemporaries to break it up a bit.

What I read in January:

While I did get a good number of books read this month, I have absolutely failed at writing reviews. Matter of fact I wrote my first one before doing this post and it goes up in a couple days. Hopefully I can get a few more written tomorrow since I'm taking the next couple days to get some blogging done.

There's really not much else to say about my bookish/blogging world this month. I've read a lot of freaking fantastic (to me at least) books this month, where only one of them was just so-so. I really hope this continues through the rest of my 2016!

How has your reading/blogging life gone this month? Read any exciting books lately? :)

W...W...W...Wednesday #03

The W...W...W...Wednesday that I'm going to be following and linking to has been slightly modified by Jessica from Lovin' los libros from it's original that is currently hosted by Taking on a World of Words, to include a book that we're waiting to read, either new release or just one that we're waiting to get to!

What are you currently reading?

Royal Marriage Market by Heather Lyons

I actually wasn't reading anything when I started formatting this post but I knew I wanted to try to squeeze one more book in before the end of the month. As I flipped through my Kindle this one started chanting "read me" over and over. Can't wait to crack it open after I'm done with this!

What did you recently finish reading?

Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Wow. This one was just...wow! Like, before I finished it, I even texted my mom and said "I'm making you read a book when I'm done with it!" We normally don't always agree with our reading choices but this book was the type that even she would love. I already got a text from her saying "I'm already on chapter 3..." She's not a very fast reader. Score one for JLA.

What are you waiting to read?

Ahhh I just need March to get here already! Ever since the end of TMI I've been wanting more of Julian and Emma. So, so bad. I can't wait to see them more grown up and taking on the world. Especially Emma, that girl is fierce. SO EXCITED!

The Monday Musts #02 [Shadowhunters, Dreams & Bookmarks!]

The Monday Musts is a new feature created by Jessica from Lovin' los libros where we share with you each week all the musts you're missing out on. The must reads, the must listens, and the must sees (This can be ANYTHING that catches our eye. Other blogs, bookish things, pictures, etc)

Must Read

Yeah. So... I'm all about TMI lately or even just the shadowhunter world in general. This series is all I've been reading since the first of the month so it's the only thing to pop in my head for a "must read" If this is your kind of series and, like me, you still haven't read it I highly suggest taking the plunge! I'm so glad I did I've been on the edge of my seat all month long!

Must Listen

"Dreams" by Beck

I am obsessed. Obsessed! With this song. Beck's always been on my list of all time favorite artists but I'd have to say that this is my favorite song of his to date. Right up there with Loser haha :D

Must See

My crafty friend Tonya from Lilybloombooks makes beautiful bookmarks. I've bought 3 of them myself and I just love them. She has a number of ones that are already made that you can purchase or if you want to customize she can do that as well! You should really go check her Etsy shop out (linked above)!!

Here are two of the three I had her custom make for me the other one is currently occupying a book but it's just as gorgeous as these! Thanks Tonya ♥!

Weekly Haul #74

Stacking the shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews. It's basically a way in which we get to show off the lovely new goodies we got over the past week/month however you decide to do it.

I've got an extra short one this week but it's a book I love already!

The Shadowhunter's Codex by Cassandra Clare and Joshua Lewis

Yeah...so I'm kind of obsessed with the shadowhunter world right now. How could I possibly resist getting my hands on this one? I've flipped through it and it's so cool! Sigh. I'm such an obsessive dork lol

So that's my one book this week!

What have you added to your shelves lately? :)

W...W...W...Wednesday #02

The W...W...W...Wednesday that I'm going to be following and linking to has been slightly modified by Jessica from Lovin' los libros from it's original that is currently hosted by Taking on a World of Words, to include a book that we're waiting to read, either new release or just one that we're waiting to get to!

What are you currently reading?

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare

This one is a monster of a book. Over 700 pages on the hardcover edition at least. And I'm filled with dread every time I pick it up. How many of these characters I have fallen so deeply in love with will survive to the end? Sigh. I'm torn between desperately needing to zip through this and be at the end...and prolonging the torture and taking it slow. Seriously my new all time favorite series.

What did you recently finish reading?

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) by Cassandra Clare

Cassandra Clare really knows how to end a book with a bang that has you immediately needing to drop the one you finished and pick up the next one. I seriously have mad respect for the people who read these as they released and had to wait out the next one every time. You're stronger than I am!

What are you waiting to read?

Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

After I finish The Mortal Instruments I am going to be in desperate need of a fantasy/urban fantasy/paranormal/what have you break and I figured to allow myself to recover from that world I would dive into a book by one of my absolute favorite authors that I still have not read yet. I can't wait to read this one!
