When the gloves come off, she's worth the penalty...

Physical therapist Annie Davidson is great at her job but unlucky when it comes to love. She's just out of a bad relationship. A really bad relationship. All she can do is focus on work...that is until she runs into professional hockey player Alec O'Meara. She's a touch insecure and doesn't understand why he's interested in her.

Despite being one of the biggest players on the team, right wing Alec O'Meara prefers finesse over force. After the tragic death of his wife, he likes to keep things loose on and off the ice. But the red-headed Annie challenges his beliefs and makes him think about taking their relationship to the net.
The passion and fun they share is addicting and makes them long for more. But her insecurities that she's not good enough, and his anxiety over a long-term commitment will keep them apart, unless they can find a way to break through the defenses they've built around their hearts.

I received a copy of this book, from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. In no way did this sway either my review or my rating!

Simmering Ice was a very quick and easy read. I picked it up because reading books set in the hockey world, or even dealing with sports in general, has been so much fun lately and addictive. While this one didn't absolutely wow me, it was very enjoyable all the same.

I really liked all of the characters. I especially liked the bond between Alec and his teammates. They seem to really care for and look out for each other. Like when Alec was all caught up in his own head they refused to let him stay that way and came over and camped out in his living room calling him on all his crap. It was funny and in a sense very sweet. You get the feeling that they aren't just a team because they're forced to be, they truly do care about each other like brothers.

Alec and Annie were also great characters, but I wish there had been more of a struggle. From the blurb I felt like I'd have seen more angst I suppose. But mostly it seemed as if the baggage that they both carried for the most part played out internally. It was more of a running inner monologue and less of a struggle within the relationship. It was the other huge reason I picked this book up. I'm twisted and I enjoy a good struggle before happily ever after. It makes it all the more sweet.

The romance was very sweet though. Alec and Annie had great chemistry and the build up between them was very slow and passionate.  I love those slow and simmering moments. A passionate kiss here, a lingering touch there, a heated look. They make the end results so much better.

I think my only other complaint, besides the lack of angst and struggle, would be that in the very beginning at least scenes felt very rushed. Like they would start and end within one or two paragraphs. I'd blink and it was days later. Things didn't feel very fleshed out on occasion.

All in all though I had fun reading it. It was quick and easy, the characters and storyline were great, the romance was passionate, and it had all the sporty goodness I've grown to love lately. I'll definitely be continuing on with this series so I can get to know some of the other Atlantic City Hustlers better!

This Entangled Teen Crush book contains adult language, underage drinking, sexual situations, and crazy squirrels. It may cause you to become a fan of hockey - or at least hot hockey players.

The hometown hockey hero won't know what hit him...

Karen Webber is in small-town hell. After her mother's death, she moved to Corrigan Falls to live with strangers - her dad and his perfect, shiny new family - and there doesn't seem to be room for a city girl with a chip on her shoulder. The only person who makes her feel like a real human being is Tyler MacDonald.

But Karen isn't interested in starting something with a player. And that's all she keeps hearing about Tyler.

Corrigan Falls is a hockey town, and Tyler's the star player. But the viselike pressure from his father and his agent are sending him dangerously close to the edge. All people see is hockey - except Karen. Now they've managed to find something in each other that they both desperately need. And for the first time, Tyler is playing for keeps...

I received a copy of this book, from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. In no way did this sway either my review or my rating!

I am truly loving this surge of sports related romances that everyone seems to be jumping on lately. Or maybe they've always been around and I'm just now starting to pay attention to them. Regardless, hockey also seems to be quite the thing now too and even though I don't like to watch it I've kind of become addicted to all these books with the all the hot hockey superstars in them. So when this Young Adult book crossed my path I knew I just had to get my hands on it!

Center Ice was both very good and very frustrating. But not the kind of frustrating that had you sitting here wondering why you were reading it. It was frustrating in the fact that I easily got attached to these characters and both Karen and Tyler had so much messed up stuff going on in their personal lives and I hurt for them and I was angry for them. Well and honestly sometimes even at them. This book made me feel a lot and I loved that.

The one consistent thing that I've noticed about all these sports books is that the majority of them have a very consistent theme of some parental figure, usually the dad, who pushes and pushes their child to work harder, be the best, become a star. Really pushes isn't even a good word to describe the pressure they put their kids under. Tyler's dad is probably the worst I've ever seen in the bunch. He thoroughly disgusted me at times and made me physically ill with how much of a tyrant he was. It was never physical though thank goodness. It was all words, emotional manipulation and verbal abuse. He was a pathetic excuse for a human being. And the agent he hired for Tyler (an agent at 17? I guess hockey really is serious business!) was every bit the sleazeball his dad was almost more so at times. Every time they were around I would instantly tense up just waiting for what was inevitably to come.

I had to admire Tyler for the type of person he was despite the tremendous amount of pressure he was under. I'd have to say though that towards the beginning of the book, before Karen really came into his life, he was a bit weaker. Or more of a suffer in silence type of a person really. He always seemed like he'd rather just take what was being told to him just to get it over with and escape the situation instead of standing up and saying "it's my life, deal with it!" Still my heart really went out to him. He had so much riding on his shoulders, all the crap he was getting from home and his agent on top of trying to be the best he could be and do good for his team. It was a lot for a 17 year old to handle and I was impressed with how well he did it.

Karen's character and situation was a bit more difficult to maneuver. There's a lot more going on with her family besides what you get from the blurb, well obviously. It goes much deeper and is way more intense than simply a girl trying to find her place in a perfect family with a dad she doesn't even know. What was so frustrating was, even though I understood Karen's anger and attitude and it was very typical teenage girl of her, I would get so mad and irritated at Karen every time she lashed out. Her stepmother, Natalie, tried so hard and worked so hard to make things smooth and Karen feel comfortable and I could feel the genuine place it was all coming from even behind Karen's snark and rudeness at times. Even though I could understand where all of her hurt and anger was coming from it always upset me when she would lash out, most especially at Natalie and throw some of the err...family problems, in her face.

This wasn't light and fluffy. It dealt with some emotionally tough situations  with both characters. But I really liked that about it as well. Sometimes the light and fluffy are what does it for me when it comes to Young Adult but I love that this one was more intense and delved a bit deeper beneath the surface. I loved how much it made me feel. I am looking forward to following the rest of this series as it releases and I'm really excited for Chris Winslow's story next. He seems like he is going to be a whole lot of fun. I really enjoyed briefly getting to know him in Center Ice. All in all, a bit frustrating at times, in a good way, but I think I'm already hooked!

What's your lucky number?

Lyla Wilder is done being the shy, chemistry nerd extraordinaire. While every other college student is out having fun, Lyla is studying. With her cat. Well, she's played it "safe" quite enough, thank you. So she creates a "College Bucket List" with item #7 being a night of uninhibited, mind-blowing sex...

But she needs some help from her man-whore best friend.

Hockey player Beck Davenport thought Lyla's transformation would be subtle. Man, was he wrong. With every item she ticks off, Beck finds himself growing seriously hot for his sweet, brainiac best friend. And if he's not careful, he'll end up risking their friendship in order to convince Lyla that he might just be her lucky #7...

I received a copy of this book, from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. In no way did this sway either my review or my rating!

Basically the title of this one caught my eye, it was catchy like that, and then I saw Cindi Madsen's name attached to it and I instantly put in a request. I've read a couple of her books in the past and loved them to pieces, so there was no question, she wrote it, I wanted to read it. I think the bookish universe is trying to tell this non-hockey fan something, because twice now this week alone I have picked up a book where the main guy happens to be a college hockey player and I've loved it. From start to finish this book had me.

Lyla was completely adorable and awkward. And when I say awkward I mean awkward, but in this incredibly endearing way. Her social skills were cringe worthy. From her totally corny jokes to her nervous word vomits about her cat, Einstein, I couldn't help but wonder how on earth she landed a guy like Beck as a best friend. I guess that just goes to show how awesome he is though. But Lyla was such a fun character. I loved the fact that even though she made herself over outside and a bit on the inside, she was still that same adorably nerdy Lyla, just with more confidence and happier. Her makeover and bucket list really helped her discover who she was deep down and helped bring that girl to the surface. By the end I felt like she was the perfect blend of old and new Lyla. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I never thought that she was doing everything for the wrong reason. She wanted to be more bold and try new things. And she did, and if she didn't like the thing she wouldn't do it again but she was happy and proud of herself for at least trying it and discovering something about herself she didn't know before.

It probably isn't any big surprise that Beck is one of the newest guys to be marked down on the book boyfriend list for me. A guy who puts someone like Lyla above anybody else, even before anything happened with them, before the makeover, is pretty freaking amazing in my book. He was protective of her and basically even put her happiness above his own needs, so to speak. All I could think when I saw that was...wow. Okay granted nothing happened between them and it was strictly a best friend situation between them until after the makeover. But I feel like deep, deep down there was always something there and he just didn't recognize it. Just in some of his gestures and the way he took care of her. Some may argue it could've been in a brotherly way but I don't buy that. It's the little things that speak the loudest to me. He's not a big shallow jerk is basically what I'm saying and I was rooting for Beck and Lyla instantly. I mean he not only gets her corny jokes, even the sciencey type ones, but he thinks they're cute. Beck is pretty darn perfect!

The biggest reason I will grab a book by Cindi Madsen without even reading a blurb, besides the great characters she creates, is she's so freaking funny! With this book it was in the banter not only with Beck and Lyla but Beck's sister was really great too. But it was also in some of the situations that Lyla's awkwardness created. I feel like the night she goes to her first party and the, what I can only describe as verbal diarrhea, that comes out of her mouth with the first guy who approaches the new and more boldly dressed Lyla is worth reading this book alone. So. Freaking. Funny. Like I wanted to sit back and laugh and then just pull her aside and say aww honey no. No, no, no, no.

I think if I were to grasp at straws for things to complain about I would just have one that even in the grand scheme of things days later it isn't bugging me that much at all. But I'd have to say that, while things weren't perfect by any means and Beck and Lyla weren't this blissfully perfect happy couple. Things were very comfortable and good, if not confusing for the both of them, for quite a good chunk of the book. The moment where the crap hit the fan came in very late, at least in my opinion, within the book and there wasn't a lot of time to let that settle and sink in before it was all better. There wasn't enough time for that feeling to lay any sort of seeds of doubts that things could even be fixed. Granted I will say that Beck's grand gesture was pretty perfect for this story and I was grinning from ear to ear. That wasn't an issue. I guess I just felt like it was almost a rush from things are okay --> now they're really, really bad --> okay let's all live happily ever after. I know it's a ridiculous thing to complain about, but like I said it was a grasping for straws type of thing.

Truly, when it comes right down to it, this book was pretty freaking great. Another one that Cindi Madsen has knocked out of the park, in my opinion. I mean best friends falling in love and  on top of that it's the nerdy, awkward girl and the college hockey star, it's the perfect recipe! I cringed with laughter, it broke my heart a little bit, and it was all kinds of steamy and sweet all rolled into one! I would definitely recommend getting your hands on this one. Or any other of her books for that matter if you haven't read one yet!

She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy...

Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.

...and it’s going to be oh so good.

All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn't take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.

Feelings. So many feelings. I realize that this book has only been out since the end of February but all I could think after I finished it was the fact that I wished I had read it sooner! It had these amazing characters with heartbreaking stories and yet it was also filled with so much humor and breathtaking romance, my heart is swelling with so many different emotions after finally finishing. I feel like there was quite a bit of hype around this book, I say that meaning every time I turn around since it's release a couple months back people are throwing it high ratings and talking about how much they loved it. I had to wonder, could it live up to all that hype and praise? My answer is unequivocally...yes.
I'm too busy watching Garrett to focus on any of the other players. He's...mesmerizing.
I'm loving all the sports romance books that are popping up lately. Honestly? I've never been much of a hockey fan though. Just something about guys skating around on the ice and slamming each other into the walls. It's so barbaric and I never saw the appeal. I've actually warmed up to the sport quite a bit while reading this book surprisingly! I never got bored or felt the need to skim through any passages that involved a game. Am I a hockey convert? Well...not quite. But, I wouldn't be against watching a game one of these days. I'd say that's progress.
Unbelievable. Every girl at this college would cut her frickin' arm off to help me out. But this one? Runs away like I just asked her to murder a cat so we could sacrifice it to Satan.
This was definitely a very character driven book and there are a lot of really great characters you get to meet at the start of this series. Especially the two main ones. Here's what you need to know about Garrett Graham. He's probably the cockiest motherfucker you will ever come across in literature. I'm surprised his ego was able to fit within the pages of this book. The next thing you need to know about Garrett? His humor and sweetness completely outshine that cockiness and what you're left with is one amazing freaking guy. His story is tragic and he's lived through so much. All I can say is I am head over heels for Garrett Graham.
Normally I pride myself on having a good head on my shoulders and making sound decisions, but agreeing to tutor Garrett? Stupider than stupid.
If there were to be a contest between Hannah and Graham about whose story is more tragic...I wouldn't even know how to cast my vote. Hannah's story gutted me and made me feel physically ill for her. I didn't see her storyline coming at all and once I knew her history I was a bit awed I guess you could say with how strong and together she was. Her emotional scars didn't even give a clue to anyone who didn't already know what she went through. In a way I find her pretty inspirational. Plus she's just so sweet and her sarcastic attitude and mouth had me in stitches more often than not.
"You're honest and kind and compassionate." She lightly bites my bottom lip. "I mean, don't get me wrong, you're a total dick sometimes, but it's a tolerable kind of dickishness."
You know what my favorite thing about this book is? Okay, scratch that. My second favorite thing because freaking Garrett Graham is number one. But number two is the fact that Hannah and Garrett can be in the middle of a seriously hot freaking moment, or even one where they're just saying the sweetest things to each other and suddenly one of them cracks a joke at the other's expense and it does nothing to kill that moment because after moments of laughter and a bit of banter it's right back where it had left off. I love when a book can do that! You don't find that every day.
I don't look back these days. I only look forward.
I have so much love for this book and I'm already wanting to read it again and again and again and...It's hilarious, heartbreaking and deliciously steamy. I can't wait to be able to snatch up the rest of the books in this series as they release. Brilliant start to what I can already tell is going to be such a fun series that's going to be full of feels.

What started out as a joke— seduce Coach Wilder—soon became a goal she had to score.

With Olympic tryouts on the horizon, the last thing nineteen-year-old Kinsley Bryant needs to add to her plate is Liam Wilder. He's a professional soccer player, America's favorite bad-boy, and has all the qualities of a skilled panty-dropper.

• A face that makes girls weep – check.
• Abs that can shred Parmesan cheese (the expensive kind) – check.
• Enough confidence to shift the earth’s gravitational pull – double check.

Not to mention Liam is strictly off limits . Forbidden. Her coaches have made that perfectly clear. (i.e. “Score with Coach Wilder anywhere other than the field and you’ll be cut from the team faster than you can count his tattoos.”) But that just makes him all the more enticing…Besides, Kinsley's already counted the visible ones, and she is not one to leave a project unfinished.

Kinsley tries to play the game her way as they navigate through forbidden territory, but Liam is determined to teach her a whole new definition for the term “team bonding.”

A fun & sexy New Adult Romance (age 17+)

Scoring Wilder was undoubtedly the most well rounded book I've read in a long time. If I wasn't bursting out loud with laughter, I was either swept away by the heat and steaminess that is Liam Wilder or...plotting the deaths of a couple of secondary characters. There wasn't a moment that went by in this book that I wasn't feeling something. Laughter. Heartache. Anger. Frustration. Happiness. All of it. Everything. My Kindle's highlighter really got a work out! This book already had me wrapped around it's finger before I opened it and read the first paragraph. Why? One word; soccer. In my world there are no other sports. Only soccer.

I had an attempt at a reading schedule. I was trying to be so good! But for days I'd been seeing people like, well especially really, Book Rock Betty screaming the praises of this book called Scoring Wilder. The woman has excellent taste in books and book boyfriends, so last week I bought it hoping to get to it soon. I had a blog tour review book opened up all ready to start it, but something was nagging at me. I swear Liam Wilder was whispering in my ear saying, "Come on we both know how this is going to go down. Close that book. Quit lying to yourself. Come meet me. You won't regret it..."

Bastard. He was right.

I glanced down to ensure that I wasn't humping his leg.

I absolutely adored Kinsley. She instantly won me over with her wit and humor. She had goals and dreams and she worked her butt off to try to achieve those goals. Soccer was her life and I guess what really got me about her was that she wasn't in it for the fame or the money or anything that being on the Olympic soccer team could possibly bring her in that area. She did what she did and she worked as hard as she did because of her love of the game. She actually prefers to be out of the spotlight. I doubt I'd have liked her as much as I did had she not been that way. I also appreciated the way she cared about her friends and family. Definitely someone I'd be friends with in real life.

"Can I say I'm a reformed bad boy without sounding like a tool?"

Liam freaking Wilder. Excuse me for a moment while I go try to compose myself after the reaction I have with just thought of his name. There are almost no words for this guy. He's a pro soccer player and he's just about the closest thing to perfection as you can get. He never stopped surprising me. Even from the very start. And the more I got to know him the harder I fell for this guy. He's fiercely protective, unbelievably thoughtful and has a soft side that had me melting like no other. And holy hell does he know how to heat things up. I'm surprised I finished this as quickly as I did. There were a few parts I had to reread a few times before I was able to move on. He's just all sorts of whoa.

I needed a nap and a cigarette. Too bad I didn't smoke.

This was my first book I've read by R.S. Grey. But if Scoring Wilder is any indication of the type of work that I have to look forward to reading from her in the future...with this one book she has a fangirl for life. Not only are her characters funny and interesting and not just the main characters either. Her secondary characters had me as well. So many of them that I would love to hang out with in real life. It isn't just the characters though. The story sucked me in right away and didn't let me go until the very last page. My advice? Buy this book now! But be prepared to accomplish nothing else once you start it until you're done. Not even sleep. Trust me, I speak from experience! Even as tired as I am today...it was so worth it. I'd do it all over again.

This has got to be the most difficult review I've ever had to write. Now normally when I say something like that it's followed by reasons why said book and I just didn't get on well. That couldn't be further from the point in this case. This book reached deep down to a place no other book has touched me before. Ohh.. that sounds sort of naughty but it's true. And for the record, Remy?

 photo Flirty02_zps7dpqtsox.gif

Moving on...

I'm having problems finding the right words to express how this book made me feel. I mean I've liked books before and I've even loved books before but this one just really did a number on me. It completely surprises me too because, if I'm being honest, I didn't think I'd connect with it... at all. I saw the cover quite a while back and was instantly drawn to it. Like a moth to a flame! And then I read the blurb and deflated. The guy's a fighter? Really? Blah. That's so not my thing. And I kept going back and forth. Then one day my friend Jess posted her review and I got about as far as her saying how it devoured her soul and any resistance I had melted away. I respect her book choices and she has yet to steer me wrong.

I'm not going to lie probably 99.5% of my liking of this book is all Remington Tate. That beautifully broken mess of a man was amazing.

His lips curl and he meets my gaze. "Brooke Dumas." He just fucked my name right in fort of me.
 photo Flirty03_zpsuje9eb5y.gif

From the first time he appears on the page all the way to the end I craved to know this guy and what made him tick. And each and every new revelation melted my heart and sometimes even broke it just a little. Who am I kidding, sometimes it broke it a lot.

"I want to play you a thousand different songs so you get a clue what...I feel inside me..."

Remy was unlike any character I've read before and I doubt I'll find any that come quite so close for a long time, if ever. He was most of the time, a man of very few words but that's all it took really to turn me into full on obsessive mode. He's 100% pure, raw alpha male.

He steps forward, and his damp hand slides into the nape of my neck. My pulse skitters as he lowers his dark head to set a small, dry kiss on my lips. It feels like he's marking me. Like he's preparing me for something monumental. That could both change and ruin my life.

"Brooke," he growls softly, meaningfully, against my lips, as he draws back with a smile. "I'm Remington."

There's so much to this guy and not once did my feelings about him waver. He's not just the sexy fighter that oozes sexuality. In contrast to the alpha side of him there's also a sweetness and a vulnerability that's so endearing. He's different with Brooke. She makes him different. Besides their sexual chemistry, which is explosive and intense, there's this peace she brings within him. One that's difficult for him to find normally.

"I want your hands on my head."
I nod and edge back to make room for him. "Does it calm your racing thoughts?"

He shakes his head, then takes my hand and spreads it open over his wide chest, his voice textured as he traps my gaze with his. "It calms me here."

Real was definitely all about Remy for me because the more I read and got to know him, learning about his past absolutely clutched my heart and I just wanted to wrap him up in a bubble, or lets face it my arms, and protect him. Which, sadly, made me grow to distrust Brooke. She was like a ticking time bomb just sitting there able to destroy him so easily. And it killed me to have him hurting after everything he'd been through. Sigh.

Of course I know there's more to this book than him. It has a great cast of supporting characters. I loved all of them. Especially Remy's team. I mean it speaks volumes for the type of people they are that they stick by and support this guy knowing how self-destructive he can be, even if the majority of it is beyond his control. And how they protect him was just awesome.

There's no words to describe how much I heart this book. This was a bumbling attempt. I heart you Katy! And I stand by what I said a few days ago I heart your brain for creating Remy *Facepalm* How crazy fangirl was that? Sigh. I shouldn't be allowed in public. :)

"I'm so fucking in love with you I don't even know what to do with myself anymore."

Sigh.
Brought on a whole new meaning to one of my all time favorite songs ever. xx
