Top Ten Books I Read In 2014
So I've finished somewhere around 90 books in 2014. Not all of them are listed in Goodreads so I don't have an exact number but still, a lot of them were really freaking good! Sure I had a few flops here and there but for the most part I have had some major luck with what I've chosen to pick up! So to sit here and have to pick out just TEN BOOKS out of all of them is becoming quite problematic. I've narrowed it down to about seventeen I think. So...I may have a rather large bonus section. So here's what I've fallen in love with this year and to hoping that 2015 gives me just as big of a problem with picking out all the GOOD books!!
(Click the covers to go to their Goodreads pages)
One:
The Collectors' Society (The Collectors' Society #1) by Heather Lyons
An easier question to answer would have been what was my #1 favorite read for all of 2014 and I would easily say this was the one. Lots and lots of love for this book and can't wait to continue on with the series!!
Two:
Rev (Bayonet Scars #3) by J.C. Emery
I started to get into the darker side of romance with this series and I'd have to say that I'm really enjoying it. This was by far the darkest of the 4 that are already released and was pretty heavy to deal with but also my favorite.
Three:
Archer's Voice (A Sign of Love) by Mia Sheridan
This one turned me into an emotional pile of goo. Just thinking about it starts me feeling things all over again. I can't wait to read other books in this series.
Four:
Rome (Marked Men #3) by Jay Crownover
Rome. Sigh. While I am absolutely loving the Marked Men series now that I've finally started reading it, Rome is by far my favorite guy. This book has my heart.
Five:
Mistborn: The Final Empire (Mistborn #1) by Brandon Sanderson
I love me some Epic Fantasy but honestly it's hard for me to pick up new authors within this genre. In the case of Brandon Sanderson, though, he had one major thing going in his favor. The fact that he was picked to finish out the Wheel of Time series after Robert Jordan passed. A series I'm pretty passionate about when it comes to Fantasy. Once I got the complex world of Mistborn down I was hooked! I will be reading everything of Brandon Sanderson's I can get my hands on in the future!!
Six:
Love, in English (Love, in English #1) by Karina Halle
This book made me so glad that I gave in to the hype for once. I saw quite a few people rave about it and even though I was iffy about it because of the blurb I eventually caved and read it. I loved it! I mean it broke my heart and put it back together a couple times but sometimes those are the best kind of books.
Seven:
Wallbanger (Cocktail #1) by Alice Clayton
Oh. My. Gosh. This book is freaking hilarious. It's also sexy and swoon worthy as well. The characters are absolute perfection and by that I'm talking all of them. You can't help but love each one of them! I highly recommend this book!!!
Eight:
Desired (Club Sin #3) by Stacey Kennedy
It's funny how I always tell myself I'd never read Fifty Shades of Grey because how could anyone want to read anything like that right? Sigh. And here I am all about Club Sin! What can I say never say never. Well at least when it comes to BDSM in general but I'm still not sure I'll ever read FSOG. I do love me some Master Kyler though so this is my favorite book in the series so far.
Nine:
Boomerang (Boomerang #1) by Noelle August
Now when I said that I thought Wallbanger was funny...I'm pretty sure I laughed through this one even more. It's funny, sexy, sweet and heartwarming. Such a good book!
Ten:
The Avery Shaw Experiment by Kelly Oram
When I read this one I had been in quite a rut of reading both New Adult and Adult books. It wasn't like it was a preference and something I had set out to do, it just so happened to be that every book I picked up fell under those categories. This book right here though made me fall in love with Young Adult all over again and made me remember what I was missing out on. I heart this book so hard. It's so sweet and lovely.
Bonus:
Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward
The Fine Art of Pretending (The Fine Art of Pretending #1) by Rachel Harris
Second Chance Ranch (Hope Springs #1) by Cindi Madsen
Opposition (Lux #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey
No More Mr. Nice Guy by Amy Andrews
Bone Deep by Brooklyn Skye
There are so many other good books I've read this year but if I listed them all then my fingers would probably fall off from all the typing. As it is I loved each one of these and I can't recommend them enough. There's quite a wide variety so there's nearly something up there for any sort of reading taste. What books did you love this year? Leave me the links to your posts! :)
Aw! I came SO close to putting Avery Shaw on mine too! I DID put TCS on my list though! :D My friend bought me Mistborn YEARS ago and has been trying to get me to read it. Between Nikki and everyone else on Twitter, I might try it again soon. I also need to read Wallbanger and Boomerang sooner rather than later!
ReplyDeleteOoooh some great choices here! Love, in English made my list. I've added Archer's Voice to my "must read" list for early 2015. I have no idea why I haven't read it yet. While they didn't make my list, I loved Rome, Boomerang and The Avery Shaw Experiment... and Scoring Wilder. :)
ReplyDeleteMy StS!
I enjoyed Rome, but it wasn't my favorite in the Marked Men series. Looks like you've got a good list here.
