Single mom Jeanie Long was trying to save her butt at work by reporting her manager to the company owner. Instead, she finds herself greeted warmly by gorgeous company CEO Camden James...and introduced to his father as his fiancée. Now she's been hired—complete with a hefty pay raise—to be the fake fiancée of the infamous “Penthouse Prince.”
Camden doesn't believe in love. He believes in mutually beneficial business arrangements. With his real fiancée off cheating on him, Camden needs someone to help him prove to his father that he's definitely ready to marry. Yet Jeanie's combination of beauty and bluntness act like an aphrodisiac, and their “for the press” kisses look incredibly real. So real that Jeanie and Camden are either really convincing actors...or they've fallen for their own charade.
I received a copy of this book, from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. In no way did this sway either my review or my rating!
I kind of really needed this book. I was starting a bit of a streak of books that I've been wanting to read for quite some time that ended up disappointing me. Yet just when I was beginning to feel hopeless about my book picking ability, I picked up Penthouse Prince and ended up finishing it in one sitting! Maybe my picker isn't off after all.
This one really surprised me just how much I liked it. As I've stated before in past reviews I generally try to avoid books all about the billionaire CEOs because the guys have a tendency to drive me absolutely crazy. Though every once in a while a blurb will catch my attention and I'll give them a shot anyway. I'm really glad I did. This book was sweet, funny and scorching hot. Chemistry level? Combustible!
Camden is your typical rich boy alpha male but I absolutely adored him. Even though he swore up and down that he didn't believe in love and he thought that people who did were fools, I never felt like he was completely hopeless. He always had this little spark here and there that made me feel like Jeanie wouldn't be wasting her time fighting for him. Even though he would have that tough guy mask on and a wall around his heart you would see glimpses of his sweeter, softer side especially when he was around Jeanie's daughter Kaycee. I definitely fell for the guy.
Jeanie was a lot of fun as well. I loved how basically everyone in Camden's life kissed his ass and groveled to him...except Jeanie. She would get in his face, tell him when he was being a jerk. Basically she stood her ground with him and did so with a lot of fire and passion. She was exactly what he needed in his life in so many different ways.
I really adored this book and I'm so glad I picked it up. Great storyline with a tiny bit of mystery, fun and lovable characters full of passion and heat. It's a great choice for a quick and easy read.
