Weekly Haul #44

Stacking the shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews. It's basically a way in which we get to show off the lovely new goodies we got over the past week/month however you decide to do it.

Chasing Desire (Chasing Love #3) by Joya Ryan

Driven by Fate (Serve #5) by Tessa Bailey

I've really been enjoying both of these series, especially Serve, so I was very excited to get both of them. Thank you Entangled Publishing!! Have I mentioned lately that I heart them very much??

Bought:

So part of my goal for this year is to finish as many of the dozens of series that I have started as I can, some of them having been started well over 2 years ago even (geesh, Sheri! Get it together!!) See back before I started blogging I bought a Nook and at the time I got it I bought dozens of first books in series and read them, loved them, but then moved on to the next series and started that one. I think the only one I finished back in the day had been Fallen by Lauren Kate. Anyway one of those many, many series that I started was The Mortal Instruments. I loved City of Bones and I have all the books except the final one City of Heavenly Fire. Well when we got those $5 coupon emails from Book Outlet a few weeks back I decided to take the opportunity and get myself a copy. Now I did not get scratch and dent I got just a regular copy since I had that $5 off BUT thanks to either UPS or USPS, not sure which one I have to say a great big huge thank you to, I may as well have because THIS is what I got in the mail on Wednesday...

Beautiful right? I had this horrible feeling this was what I was going to find when I opened it because the package was literally tapped shut with big gouging holes in it. On top of that, this book is huge, we're talking over 700 pages huge, and it was crammed into my mailbox. Like I had to pull and tug to get it out. Post Office claims it was most likely damaged by UPS before it got to them but I kind of feel like it was a combination of the two since it was crammed so tight. I should probably try harder to get some sort of compensation but I just can't be bothered. So sadly, I got a new book, but this is what it looks like :(

Freebie:

Island Escape (The Island #0.5) by Viv Daniels

After reading my friend Danielle @ What Danielle Did Next's review [here] for this novella I was very interested in giving this series a try. I love the idea of a castaway story and seeing people have to dig deep within themselves to survive. As of Thursday at least, this one was a freebie over on Amazon so I figured it was a sign!

So what did you add to your shelves this week? :)

  1. I'm so sorry that happened. On the bright side City of Heavenly Fire is an amazing book.

  2. I'm sorry that your new book arrived in such a battered condition. My mailman usually slips packages inside my storm door rather than trying to cram them in my mailbox. I appreciate his care. Like you, I am much better at starting series than finishing them. And, like you, I've read the first in The Mortal Instruments and have the rest on a shelf gathering dust. Maybe this year....

  3. Gah! I hate when my books are handled badly by the delivery people. It's one thing to buy it on purpose dinged up for the discount - but that is unacceptable. I'm so sorry that happened. :(

I think I have to hop over to Amazon, Island Escape sound good.

Oh and new bloglovin follower too. :)

  4. I hate when books arrived damaged. That's the worst feeling in the world. My mailman usually gives book packages to my doorman. Hope you enjoy all the books despite the mishap.

  5. Oh man! That is horrible. I hate it when I go to my mailbox and it looks like the mail lady had to put some muscle shoving my package in there. Luckily nothing has ever been broken. Sorry about your books. :(

  9. Ha! You and me both girl! I've never actually had any issues with Book Outlet and this one seems to have been all with the delivery people. Oh well I can still read it but it still sucks!

  13. Exactly! I've bought a few in the past on purpose that were a bit dinged up here and there at a discount but to buy one that was basically brand new and to end up with this? Sigh...lazy delivery people! Have a great week! :)

  14. I'm thinking I may have had a substitute or something because usually they'll at least leave it on my doorstep. Oh well I'm just thankful that it was only the cover that was severely damaged and I can still read it! Thanks Grace :)

  16. I would say I'd trade you mailmen but I wouldn't put that on anybody haha! And I'm glad I'm not so alone with not finishing series! Gathering dust is right. I have way too many books that seem to be doing that these days! Thanks for stopping by Kathy! :)

  17. I hate when books are damaged like that!! One of my bookoutlet books had a tear on the book jacket down the spine and it was NOT scratch and dent and I emailed them. They were nice and said to send pictures and they'd evaluate. But. Then I got lazy and never took pictures to send them. .... ha.
