Top Ten Tuesday #34

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!

This week's topic is...

Top Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want To Visit
(Fiction or Real)

My list is so all over the place this week. But this was definitely a fun topic to think about and come up with. For the most part my list is fictional but I have thrown in a couple real places. Some are worlds, some are cities, some are just buildings or what have you. Let's get to it shall we?

(Click on the covers to find them on Goodreads)

One:

The Two Rivers because of The Wheel of Time series
by Robert Jordan & Brandon Sanderson

This was the first one that popped in my head when I saw this topic. Err minus the trollocs and myrddraals that is. I'm a realist. I wouldn't survive the shit hitting the fan. Actually come to think of it I'd pretty much like to visit just about everywhere in this series. But first and foremost, the Two Rivers.

Two:

Middle Earth because of Lord of the Rings
by J.R.R. Tolkien

Hobbits, elves, dwarves, ents, wizards. So. Much. Awesome.

Three:

Hogwarts because of the Harry Potter series
by J.K. Rowling

And I want to get there on the Hogwarts Express, get to platform 9 3/4. I want to go to Diagon Alley and and Hogsmeade and The Leaky Cauldron and and...ahhh!

Four:

Dauntless Compound because of the Divergent series
by Veronica Roth

First of all I didn't plan this but how perfect is it that this ended up as four? Okay moving on! I had very specific ideas of how this place was in my head, and the movie didn't even really come close, well except for the riding the trains part. But I'm absolutely fascinated with this place. I actually want to jump the trains and see it all.

Five:

St. Vladimir's Academy because of the Vampire Academy series
by Richelle Mead

Loved this series and like above I had the exact idea in my head about how everything was supposed to look and sadly the movie sucked. But I still want to see everything. And....it'd be a million times better if Adrian Ivashkov was there ;)

Six:

Regency London because of The Bridgerton series
by Julia Quinn

Though I'm not sure I could survive long term without all the conveniences of modern technology I think it'd be fun for a visit at least. Plus I'd love to hang out with the entire Bridgerton clan for just one day!

*The rest of these are the more realistic ones.*

Seven:

Colorado because of the Marked Men series
by Jay Crownover

This one is basically just me being funny but it seems like all the sexy, tattooed, bad boys are in Colorado. As I read these books I keep thinking "Damn I need to buy me a plane ticket!" Maybe I just want to be in Jay Crownover's imagination. As long as there's boys like this I'm there!

Eight:

New Orleans because of the Love and Games series
by Rachel Harris

I've never been and to be honest it's never really crossed my mind, until I started reading this series and now it's a must visit. Someday.

Nine:

A ranch because of The Callahan's of Texas series and Second Chance Ranch
by Sharon Gillenwater & Cindi Madsen

This one is almost more of a for life thing. There is nothing I'd love more than to buy a ranch, like a real honest to goodness ranch (cowboys included would be awesome!) and just live there. This one is definitely not a visit this is a forever thing. Sigh. *Starts to plan a bank robbery*

Ten:

A slam poetry event because of the Slammed series
by Colleen Hoover

After reading these books I went on a mini binge of watching people on like YouTube and such preforming slam poetry. I think it would be so much fun. I could never do it myself, stage fright and all, but I'd love to go sit there and soak it all in!

Something that I found just the other day. Love this. Haven't really looked to see if she has anything else like this but in case you want to check it out:

  1. Middle Earth and Hogwarts made a lot of lists this week - including mine! But you're one of the few who also had Regency England on their list (though I've seen Pemberly on a few lists.) :-)
