Her friendship blossoms, sex with her husband turns into a daily feast, and her job gets more interesting with each chapter written.

Out of the blue, a person who is a close friend with her husband and who is dating Cassandra disappears. As the mystery behind the missing person unfolds, Jenny wonders if she might be responsible for his possible death. And if she is, what will be the consequence? What has this writing business gotten her into?

This book surprised me in a few different ways. To start with, it wasn't anything like I expected it to be. I will be totally honest and say I wasn't a big fan when I started reading it. It was a struggle and for a novella, only 100 pages worth, it took me quite a while to make it through. Part of me wanted to give up and send off an email saying "sorry but it's just not for me". But there was a majority of myself that kept thinking that it is only 100 pages and push through to the end at least to give it a fair shot and see what happens. Then there it was at the end of the book. This huge twist that I never saw coming, at all. It was enough to make me glad that I stuck it out.

There was quite a bit going on in this book. The chapters sort of alternated between Jenny's life and the things going on with her, to being in and reading the book she was writing. I wavered on my feelings towards Jenny. There were times when I felt like she was so self conscious and a bit paranoid to the point that she was sabotaging her own life and happiness. It would get frustrating but then she'd do or say something that would make me feel for her. It was very conflicting. Her husband Jason seemed, from what I could tell since it was in her POV, but he seemed like a good guy and loving and devoted. Even her paranoia that he was being unfaithful didn't touch my gut feeling that things weren't what they seemed to her.

The story she was writing was a bit strange to me and I wasn't understanding why reading what Jenny was writing was part of this book. I was always wanting to know more about what was going on with Jenny and her strange behavior and so many questions I was having about what was going on with her own life. Then towards the end the book took a very interesting twist and the two worlds collided in a very unexpected way. You think you'll know...but you'll never see it coming.

So yes, I struggled a bit through the book, it was a bit confusing at times with both stories going on. But I enjoyed the end quite a bit and I was glad I kept going.

I was really excited to be reading and reviewing Chaos for the Ember Blog Tour to kick off Entangled's newest branch to their teen line. I am always fascinated by mythology and reading the different ways it's woven into stories. Chaos was quite different from the things I've read in the past.

At first I was finding difficulty in liking the two main characters Maggie and Mac. Maggie was for the most part, you're average teenage girl. She had her own set of faults. Such as the fact that she was very selfish and she lashed out easily and often. and I felt like the way she treated her mom just didn't feel deserved. Sure here were things to be upset and a bit angry with, that much I did understand, but it just sort of felt like too much. Though the more that I got to know Maggie and what was going on or had gone on in her life up to the point that we meet her, the more I understood and was able to look past her temper and such and eventually came to like her quite a bit.

Mac was such a jerk. He antagonized and pushed Maggie and he really seemed to enjoy getting her angry. He was also very cocky and sure of himself. Just not really a good guy, in the beginning. Then as it was with Maggie, the story progressed, I got to know more about him, learned his secret and after that things just started to click. It still wasn't cool how he acted towards her in the beginning, but, it was easier to see where he was coming from and understand his reasons and by the end of the book he'd won me over completely.

At this point, being the first book in the series, we've just barely scratched the surface of the mythology of this world and how the magic works and so on, It was very interesting and unique and I hope and am looking forward to learning more about the other types of semi gods and how they work. Also hopefully Maggie can learn more about herself and her powers.

This book was such a fun read. There was danger and intensity. Quite a few laugh out loud moments. There was also a bit of romance as well, the sexual tension was pretty crazy and it really added something interesting to an already good book without overpowering it and taking away from the main focus of the book, Maggie and her struggles in dealing with her dangerous new powers and how to get herself in control before the council takes matters into their own hands, her sense of self and finding out who she is now that she's not an average girl and also the struggles she's going through with her family.

Overall I enjoyed this book a lot. I found it unique and engaging and the perfect start to what seems like will be a favorite new series. I'm already hooked and looking forward to the next one. If you're a fan of mythology then you should really give it a try!

It didn't take me long to fall in love with this book or it's characters. The four friends had such a fun and interesting dynamic. It only took a couple of pages to have me laughing out loud. I was instantly hooked and couldn't put it down, well until I had dropped my Kindle on my head a couple of times dozing off! It's been a while since I've been as in to a book as I was this one.

Emma was such a great character, she's smart and snarky. She has a great job. Lives a condo in New York with her 3 best friends Shane, Tyler and Rob (lucky girl). She comes from a perfect family, with a mother who constantly drilled into her and her sister the importance of maintaining the perfect image, perfect hair, perfect makeup, perfect clothes, perfect friends, relationships...so you can't really blame her for rebelling most of her life. Her mother and sister can't stand the way she lives her life, she's almost 30 and she's living like a college student, she should settle get married, settle down, quit her job, raise a family. But Emma is perfectly happy with her life the way it is.

She goes home for her parents anniversary and her baby sister makes an announcement that sends Emma reeling with emotions and a twinge of jealousy that she never expected. It makes her take a step back and reevaluate her life and see that maybe she's not as happy with the way things are as she thought she was. On the plane ride home she formulates a plan, with only 8 months until her birthday she wants to try to find Mr. Right by the time she's 30 and be that much closer to the perfect life and perfect family her mom and sister are pressuring her to have.

This book proved that you can have an adult or new adult novel and have it be all about the love story and the romance and not be filled with sex, sex, sex. It was about the characters and the emotions. Their ups and downs on the way to find their happiness. It's always such a refreshing change. Don't get me wrong I enjoy my steamy novels like the rest of you, it's just a nice change of pace sometimes.

It had me engaged from start to finish and ended all too soon. I fell in love with each one of these characters and I was so sad to see this story come to an end. But I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out and delve deeper into the hearts of the other guys and see them find their happiness as well. I highly recommend this heartwarming love story!

You hear it all the time, be careful what you wish for, and this book was a huge lesson in that. Sometimes you think you know exactly what you want with your life and what you think will make you happy. But getting everything you want doesn't always mean things are going to be better, be perfect. Sometimes getting what you think you want, only makes things worse.

Joanna is your typical teenage girl, if a bit nerdy. She loves to read and she's into sci-fi and aliens. She's about to start her senior year of high school and she should be excited but, everything in her life completely sucks. Her mother has remarried and is blissfully happy, but it had been just the two of them for so long that now she's feeling like she's losing her mom and her attention. She can't stand her step-dad and she doesn't try very hard to hide the fact. Like most girls her age she has body image issues as well. She's extremely tall for a girl. Freakishly tall in her opinion. Guys don't seem to like tall girls. Especially her best friend Tommy, who tends to date petite girls. Tommy who she's been in love with as long as she can remember, and he doesn't seem to notice. And to top it off she gets a phone call from her volleyball coach with some terrible news about her status on the team. Everything was going wrong.

That night she sneaks out onto the roof of her two story house for some star gazing, it's her happy place. She spots what appeared to be a shooting star and is so caught up in it she winds up having an accident. Suddenly a gorgeous golden haired boy, James, shows up and comes to her aid. After waking up in the hospital the strangest things start happening. Her life is completely different, like everything she wished for suddenly came true.

I was very back and forth for the first half of the book about my feelings for Joanna. In so many ways she was extremely immature and very selfish and I just wanted to smack her! But she grew so much throughout this book. She went from resentful, angry, sullen and out right mean at times to patient, caring, understanding and thoughtful. Walking around for a couple weeks in her perfect and ideal version of her life really opened her eyes to everything her selfish heart wouldn't allow herself to see. She got to see that for everything she gained that she was so sure she wanted, that she would lose something from her life that she wanted even more. Her growth was so heartwarming to watch unfold.

This book was so full of surprises and a lot of fun to read. Not everything was what it seemed. I thought I knew what was happening and I ended up being pretty wrong. I got thrown for a surprise there towards the end. Overall I enjoyed this book, though I will admit the somewhat abrupt ending and events right up to the end had me slightly disappointed but we shouldn't always get what we wish for right?

My Review:

I had a bit of a struggle through the first 30-40%. It wasn't an issue of the quality of the book per se, because I did really enjoy it quite a bit, once I got over that hump. See I'm the type of person that, when I'm reading, I don't feel the need to have every last detail described to me. There are times, like with the beginning of this one, that I feel like I'm being bombarded with description and not all of it relevant to what's going on within the story. I don't need to know the placement of every whisker in the scruff of Frank's face or what he ate 5 years ago for breakfast unless it's going to have a major impact on the story. Of course there is no Frank in this book that was just a silly, stupid example of what I mean. Not everyone is going to agree with me on this one and that's fine we're all entitled to how we feel. It's just for me sometimes less is more you know?

Once I made it through and got over that initial irritation the core of this story is really pretty fascinating and fun. I always love a good story about magic and I think the way that magic works in this world that the author created is pretty great! There are certain magic spells that all witches can work, then there are those that they can teach each other and some will get it and some won't and then there are special magical spells/gifts that are unique to the individual witch. Ivy's is what she calls a Time Spell. I loved the concept of this gift she has. Open a doorway to the past and witness some exciting moment from the past. Ivy then takes what she witnesses from using her gift to spins it into an exciting mystery book.

Though when she goes back and sees something that, when I was reading the event unfolding, I swear I felt like I was watching this awesome film noir scene play out before me, or for Ivy I should say. She's always very careful not to do anything to disrupt what's going on around her or leave any trace that she'd been there. Though with the subject of her latest book turned movie she soon finds out that, by something beyond her control, her presence in the past didn't quite go as unnoticed as she thought it did. Not only did she put herself in danger but the lives of her family and her editor Jack's as well. Because the book she wrote was a story that at least one person didn't want to be told. I was completely pulled into the events from the past and trying to solve where things went wrong before Ivy herself did! It was so much fun to read.

I enjoyed the characters quite a bit. Ivy was funny and clever, brave and clam in the face of danger on the outside, even if on the inside she's shaking like a leaf. She was everything I would expect of a modern day witch. Then we have her editor and the man she's been pining for the last 2 years, Jack. He's very serious and logical, stoic I guess you could say. He gets pulled into the danger Ivy's Time Spell trip caused and for a guy who gets thrown head first into the world of magic, I think he takes everything pretty well. Instead of running and letting her flounder and figure things out on her own he puts his trust in Ivy and works with her to find the mysterious person threatening them. We also briefly meet Finn. Finn is Ivy's ex and there's just something about this guy that I don't trust. I don't know everything yet but he just feels shady to me. I guess I'll see in future books, I may be eating those words!

From the beginning with the prologue, which filled me with promise of danger and mysterious things to come I knew I was going to be in for a fun ride and I got those things and more. There's a touch of romance here and there but unlike a lot of New Adult novels these days where people are constantly tripping and falling into bed, this book wasn't overwhelmed with it. It was just the right amount to add interest to an already really good story, which in the end, I loved reading.

Boy what a difference one book can make! I mean all throughout Girl with Guitar I never had any doubts. I was totally rooting for Kylie and Trace through the whole thing. Even when things seemed like they'd hit an all time low I just kept thinking "they'll make it" and I really believed it. But with Girl on Tour, oh my lord! There came a point, well actually at a few places actually, where I just wanted them to cut their losses and quit with all the pain and hurt. After I reached into the book and grabbed both Kylie and Trace by the backs of their necks and bonk their heads together of course! Thankfully Caisey warned me and my fellow #GwB girls that we were not to be expecting a HEA for this one or I'd probably have been sending her multiple "what are you doing to me" or "what are you doing to them" types of emails  haha. Don't worry Caisey I still heart you mucho :)

Kylie was just the same as I remembered her to be. I simply adore her, but I wanted to throttle her a time or two during this one. I mean Trace doesn't call her a hothead for nothin! She made a lot of bad decisions and some of her actions had me questioning what on earth she could have been thinking. But when it comes down to it, she was a girl who's in love and sometimes instead of facing what she knew deep down she should do or how she should react in certain situations, it seemed like she was kind of just hoping if she ignored the big bad thing long enough it would just go away. Honestly after I had some time to decompress and really let everything I read sink in, she's just a normal girl. Hell I've done some of the stuff I was cursing at her for. She was on a slow downward spiral throughout Girl on Tour and by the end of the book my heart was breaking for her.

And Trace. Sigh. Oh Trace. Why, oh why do you do the things you do? That boy had me so stinking angry as time went on. I love him to death! He's one of my favorite male MCs. But he is so broken that I had to wonder if he'd ever get fixed. He's an addicted through and through. Thinkin he's got everything under control and he'll be okay once he makes it through this one thing. And then something else happens and he just needs to make it through that and everything will be okay. His fall was breaking my heart with the turn of every page. There was one line I read. Three little words that had me fuming, and it got me to a point where I had literally given up on Trace and Kylie's future together, didn't even want it anymore. That was the point I knew I had to walk away from my Kindle and slept it off. I'd like to say that when I picked it back up again the next day that Trace got better...but sadly he didn't fully. But, by the end I will say that though I wasn't over the moon I was satisfied and felt like for once he did something right.

It wasn't all anger and heartbreak though. There were some sweet moments and some hot and steamy moments as well. When things are good with Trace and Kylie it is such a swoon fest. It has me sighing and smiling like a big dork as I read.

We get to know a couple new characters as well. The other two girls on Kylie's tour. Mia, who is Trace's sort of ex I suppose, though she was mentioned and very briefly in Girl with Guitar, but we really get to know her in this book. I'm still not 100% a big fan of hers. She's not the most pleasant person when she's around and she started to grow on me just a tiny bit by the end of the book, but I'm still not liking her all that much. Then there was Lily. Oh man, I couldn't stand girls like her when I was her age (16) and I still can't deal with them. Spoiled-rich-my-daddy-buys-me-whatever-I-want types of girls. You know the type. I did start to feel some sympathy for her though once we got to dig deeper in her family life. Then touring with Trace we have Gretchen. Could. Not. Stand. Her. Well in the beginning at least. There was a lot more to Gretchen than her outward appearance. Think Trace as a female and you basically have Gretchen.

Okay so I was kind of excited that for a little bit we got to see Steven Blythe again. Oh who am I kidding, I was a lot excited! There was just something about that guy. He stuck out to me in the first book and so when I saw him make an appearance here I will admit I sort of might have squealed a little. Ha! And I will say that, even though I'm not a fan...yet, I really liked the vibe, the spark that I saw popping between Mia and Steven. I'm just gonna throw this out there... but I think Steven needs his own story. Even if it's only a novella. I'm just sayin... ;)

Overall was I upset? Yes. Was I angry? Um Yes! Did I love it? Of course! There's one thing you've gotta understand about me. I will get pissed and complain or cry like a baby and whine or be over the moon and fangirling like crazy sure. But all of those things mean one thing. I'm feeling. And sometimes books make me feel...passionately! It just means I'm attached and I care what happens to these characters. I may not have my "Happily Ever After" yet, but I have faith that Caisey will end Trace and Kylie's story on a happy note. And I can't wait for Girl in Love to come out so I can see it happen!
